Your Business

From startup with plan and documentation to running or selling a business

From the very beginning, your business will come across legal issues that prevent you from moving forward with confidence. Whether it’s a lease agreement, your terms and conditions or third-party supplier contracts you might not have the information or knowledge you need.

Everyone needs a lawyer who knows your business and its history and is willing to support you whether it’s a simple small issue or a large dispute that needs to be urgently resolved.

There will be innumerable unforeseen legal issues that will stump you along the way. The trick to deal with this issue is to hire a lawyer to help you navigate through them, but don’t work with any lawyer, work with the right lawyer. If you don’t get it right, things might get worse and it’ll cost you a lot more in the long run.

But how do know who is the right lawyer for you? How much will they charge you? How long will it take to get an outcome?

Our Solution-Focused Strategy

  • The first thing we will do is to start with a phone call. We will start to understand the issues, your motivations and agree on the desired outcome.
  • Next, we will give you an estimate of how much work is involved and we will agree on a fixed fee or hourly rate.
  • From there we will delve into the detail. We might need a face-to-face meeting to get more information. Your accountant is the most important professional advisor in your team and it is important that they understand the problems and goals so we like to touch base with your accountant as well; they often have some valuable insights that can be helpful as well.
  • We then work towards delivering the outcome you want. One of the things we do differently than other law firms is that we work closely with you to achieve your goals. Very often you will have insights and details relevant to your specific circumstances that can be invaluable in achieving the outcome.
  • Once we find the solution, we make sure it is implemented correctly and nothing is missed. There are many cases where a client has received advice that if implemented would have achieved the aim, but unfortunately because something was missed the whole structure fell over. We won’t let that happen.

We want to continue working with you

Often lawyers are seen as too expensive to touch base with on an ongoing basis. You don’t want to reach out and ask a question for fear of receiving a bill for every second you talk to the lawyer… and yes often the majority of that conversation might have been about who won the footy on the weekend.

So what do we do differently? If you want to reach out and ask a quick question over the phone or catch up for a coffee just to keep us informed of what’s going on in your business, we won’t bill you for it.

Whatever the issue, we can provide help and advice to overcome the challenges you face or better yet prevent problems in the first place. This will let you focus on what you do best, running your business.
